KOCHI: The hunt for the perfect man to honour the title of Mr Kerala has begun. Of the 350 entries 17 contestants between the age of 18-28 have been selected to compete in the next level. This is the first time in South India that a beauty pageant is being held exclusively for men.

The final 17 contestants are men from all walks of life. IT professionals, students, professional models and even a politician are in the fray to be crowned Mr Kerala.

Kottayam resident Midhun Abraham who works as a nurse in Milan, Italy, said that the fashion scene in Italy inspired him to get into modelling. As he felt that he wouldn’t be able to compete with the models there, he decided to give the Mr Kerala manhunt a try.

Another contestant Syroos Zaboli is a contestant from Iran who is now pursuing his engineering degree in Cusat.

“My mother is from Kerala and I love this place. I have been residing here with my grandparents for almost six years now,” he said. All the contestants see modelling as a stepping stone to films and hope to make a mark with the event which will be held on January 30.
