KOCHI: For the first time in the state, sanitary napkin vending machines are being introduced in schools. The project is being introduced as a part of the school hygiene project initiated by the Thrissur district panchayat.

The vending machines with the product name Lady Bird are being supplied by Micro Appliances and Technologies. Each machine will have 22 napkins. A napkin can be obtained from the machine by putting two coins of `1 each.

State Women's Commission member Meenakshi Thampan will inaugurate the sanitary napkin vending machine for high schools at Government Higher Secondary School, Kodakara, at 3.pm. on Monday.

C Raveendranath MLA will be the chief guest. Thrissur district panchayat president Ambady Venu will preside over the meeting. The programme is being organised by the Thrissur district panchayat.
