PIRAVOM/KOCHI: Infopark, Kochi’s first techno-lodge at Piravom, was dedicated to the state on Sunday. Situated at Thirumaradi grama panchayat, Kakkoor, Piravom, the techno lodge has been set up in a total area of 4000 sq.ft with all the state-of-the-art facilities.

Kochi-based Digitec has already taken the entire space in this techno lodge and will start operations immediately.

The function was inaugurated by M J Jacob MLA while Thirumarady panchayat member Smitha Saju presided. Info Park CEO-in-charge  K Kurian, panchayat members Joy John and Jose Mathew and Pampakud Khadi and Village Industries chairman M T Paulose were among those who spoke on the occasion.

“Technolodges in Kerala have been planned in small towns and rural panchayats wherever unutilised land/buildings are available with Government or local bodies. Their objective is to empower the youth of the rural area, provide them with employment opportunities in the IT industry at locations near to them and also provide them space at the low cost of BPO companies,” said Infopark CEO Binu A Pazhoor. “We are extremely happy that the first Techno lodge of Infopark has already been taken over by a fast growing company which will provide employment opportunities for the youth in and near Piravom.”

Digitec technologies provide high value information technology service with concentration in VAS-Value added services for mobile operators and mobile application development. The company has tie-ups with all the major mobile operators in India and middle-east.

Digitec owns ten Indian and three US patent pending products which include products like Mobsterr (a mobile based social networking service - winner of the special mention award at the Billionth South Asia Mobile Awards 2010), Movi (an innovative technology to stream movies into mobile phones over 2G and 3G networks) etc. Digitec is also one of India’s major music content repositories with a content base of 12,000 music tracks from six languages. Digitec is headed by CEO Eldhose Bose.

A techno lodge is considered if the panchayat makes one acre of land available in a suitable location with good access to roads, power, water and other social infrastructure. Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd (KSITI) is driving this project and bears the cost for the basic infrastructure.
