KOCHI: The family units and the catechism department of the St Sebastian’s Church, Kadavanthra, organised a cultural procession ‘Pazhamayilekoru Madakayathra’, as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the church. The literal meaning of ‘Pazhamayilekoru Madakayathra’ is ‘a journey to the past.’ Traditional art forms of Kerala such as Margam Kali, Chavittu Nadakam, Parchamuttukali, Padayani, Theyyam, Kathkali, Ottanthullal and Oppana were a part of the procession. Also, other dance forms like Odissi, Kathak, Kavadi and tribal were presented. Fr. Varghese Valiyaparambil, chancellor of Archdiocese of Verapoly, flagged off the procession and Deputy Mayor B Bhadra received the torch. Msgr Vadakumthala, vicar general of Archdiocese of Verapoly, delivered the benedictory address. Sjajio George, who has been elected the president of the Kerala Catholic Association (KLCA), was honoured in connection with the celebration. Councillors Essy Joseph, Elisabeth Teacher and Bhama Padmanabhan distributed prizes.
