KOCHI: Vijay’s new movie ‘Velayudham’ will hit over 80 screens in Kerala on October 26. Written and directed by Jayam Raja, the movie is expected to be a mass-masala entertainer that will turn to be a real treat for Vijay fans.

Vijay plays the title role - ‘Velayudham’ - while Genelia D’Souza portrays Bharathi - a vibrant reporter. The star cast also include Hansika Motwani, Saranya Mohan and Santhanam.

The soundtrack of the movie has received an overwhelming response. The scores including ‘Rathathin Rathame,’ ‘Molachu Moonnu’ and ‘Mayam Seidhayo’ have already become chart busters. Vijay Anthony is the music director.

“Velayudham’ is not a superhero nor possess any supernatural powers. He is an ordinary man who has a reason to take up the cudgels and fight the system. Director Raja has made the transformation of my character with realism and that according to me is the highlight,” Vijay said about his role in the film.

“Hansika and Genelia were excellent co-stars. Sharanya mohan portrays the role of my sister in this movie. Genelia has a very important role of a journalist who motivates and brings about a transformation in my character,” he added.
