KOCHI: The Postal Department released a special cover to commemorate the birth centenary of the late Cardinal Mar Joseph Parecattil, the first Cardinal from Kerala, here on Tuesday. Chief Post-Master General, Kerala circle, Shoba Koshy released the cover by handing it over to Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas. It is only appropriate to release a cover in honour of Cardinal Parecattil, Sobha Koshy said. According to K V Thomas, Mar Parecattil was a visionary who always upheld values. Syro-Malabar church Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, who presided over the function, said the late Cardinal’s thoughts always inspired society.
Ernakulam Angamaly Archdiocese auxiliary bishops Mar Thomas Chakiath and Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath were also present. Procurator Fr Mathew Manavalan proposed a vote of thanks.
