Bishop seeks protection

Express News Service

Metropolitan Kuriakose Mar Clemis of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church has filed a petition before the Kerala High Court seeking a directive from the government to provide police protection. Mar Clemis was removed from official responsibilities after he had raised allegations against the Church leadership. A faction within the Church inimical towards him was spreading rumours and had also made two attempts on his life, the petitioner submitted. It is stated in the petition that he may not be able to withstand another attempt on life. It is alleged that though a petition seeking police protection had been lodged with the Idukki district police chief, no action was taken.
