KOCHI: The mortal remains of actor Jose Prakash, who breathed his last here on Saturday after prolonged illness, were laid to rest on Monday with state honours at the St Mary’s Basilica here.

KOCHI: The mortal remains of actor Jose Prakash, who breathed his last here on Saturday after prolonged illness, were laid to rest on Monday with state honours at the St Mary’s Basilica here.

The body was brought to Ernakulam Town Hall by 9.30 am for the public to pay homage.  A gloomy mood prevailed as the body of the veteran actor, who had acted in more than 350 movies, was brought to the hall.

Actors Jayaram, Siddique, Idavela Babu, music composer Arjunan Master, directors Joshi and T V Chandran paid their last respects.

Public Works Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Rural Development Minister K C Joseph, District Collector Sheikh Pareeth, Mayor Tony Chammany, MLAs Dominic Presentation, Ludy Louis and Benny Behanan were also present to bid goodbye to the ‘affable villain’.  His daughter Jasmine arrived by 11 am from Germany and at 11.40 am the body was taken to the cemetery.
