Kitex issues will be solved in accordance with Law: K Babu

Excise Minister K Babu has said that the problems ailing Kitex Garments Ltd would  be solved by ensuring abidance with the law. “The government would ensure that the company functions in accordance with the law,” he said at a meeting convened at the Collectorate on Tuesday.

As per the recommendations of the committee headed by the District Collector, waste water would be stored in a pond on the company premises. Only excess water from the pond would be pumped out. Water samples from the pond would be tested on a daily basis at regular intervals, the Minister said.

He asked the company officials to complete the construction of the pond before the onset of monsoon.  He also instructed officials to ensure proper functioning of waste treatment plants and asked to explore the possibility of constructing the boiler on another location  when the company expands.

A group of engineers led by the District Collector would visit the company on March 4. A review meeting would be held after four months to take stock of the situation.
