The district panchayat will soon roll out the ‘non-stop homoeo express @school’ scheme to tackle monsoon diseases. The programme will be kicked off on Tuesday, said district panchayat president Eldhose Kunnappilly.
The Homoeo treatment unit, National Rural Health Scheme, Institution of Homoeopaths Kerala, Indian Homoeo Medical Association, all of which function under the Health Department, will tie-up for the project. As part of the initial phase, two schools each from the 26 divisions under the district panchayat will be selected.
A team of doctors, led by the district homoeo medical officer, will visit the schools and distribute medicines. Pamphlets on disease prevention will be distributed among the students.
The project will conclude on July 23, but might be extended as per demands and needs of various schools.
Block-level and grama panchayat-level steps to combat the diseases were also discussed at a meeting held under the district panchayat president on Thursday.
