With no end in sight to the confusion between the Kochi Corporation and state government on resolving the Pachalam ROB issue, the residents have been forced to come up with a solution. They are set to submit a plan to the government seeking permission to construct a bridge from Bhagyodhayam Company to Kattungal Temple. “A normal bridge will do in the place of a state-of-the-art one. We have drafted a bridge of about 12 metres long, nowhere close to one proposed in the JNNURM but big enough to tackle the issue,” said Henry Austin, Ernakulam Block general secretary (Cong I).  Land acquisition would be limited to four families who are willing to cooperate with the project. The proposal was passed by the 73rd Vaduthala division committee meeting a few days ago. “We will submit it to K V Thomas, Union Minister of state for Food and Public Distribution,” he said.
