Coming down heavily on the RSP for supporting the UDF, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said that RSP national secretary T J Chandrachoodan was completely aware of the development and that he was part of the talks in this regard.
“The RSP betrayed the LDF and jumped to the UDF as part of a planned conspiracy,” he alleged.
The recent revelations by Congress leader N Peethambara Kurup has cleared all doubts about the RSP’s jump to the UDF, he said.
“Talks in this regard had begun about three weeks ago. We hadn’t even dreamt of such a possibility. The Congress was afraid that one of its allies in the UDF would not stand by it and hence attempts began to rope in the RSP. CPM never thought the RSP would betray the Left front,” Pinarayi said.
Speaking at a meet the press programme conducted by the Ernakulam Press Club on Friday, Pinarayi said that the Congress will not get even a single seat from Kerala in the Lok Sabha polls.
“After the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress and the UDF will be isolated. The poll results will bring in an end to the UDF government in the state as there will be internal issues emerging within,” he said.
Pinarayi however maintained that the CPM will not go for any political manipulations to bring down the government.
Upon asked about A K Antony’s statements that the Left Front should support the Congress at the Centre to keep communal forces at bay, Vijayan said that during campaigning Antony goes back to his Youth Congress days.
“While campaigning he goes back to his earlier self of a Youth Congress leader. The Congress has been facing various issues and his ministry itself is facing troubles. He’s attempting to mislead,” Vijayan said.
The senior CPM leader expressed hope of a non-Congress, non-BJP government forming at the Centre after the polls. “A decision regarding an alliance will be made based on the post-poll scenario,” he said.
