Doc to Conduct Live Laparoscopy in US

KOCHI: Leading gynaecologist and chairman of Sunrise Group of hospitals Dr Hafeez Rahman has added one more feather in his cap as he was selected for conducting live laparoscopy surgery demo during the National conference of American Association of Gynec Laparoscopist (AAGL) being held at Las Vegas from November 15-19.

 He is one among the four surgeons from across the globe selected for conducting live demo surgery through video conferencing system. The live demo would be transmitted from 9 pm to 11 pm during the conference on Thursday. The main surgery would be removal of large uterus by a technique named ‘Sunrise Method’ developed by him. The surgery would be performed at Sunrise hospital in Kochi. As many as five surgeries would be conducted and around 6000 surgeons from all over the world would be taking part in the discussion on the laparoscopy technique later. Dr Hafeez would be answering the queries from these surgeons. Dr Hafeez is the first surgeon who has reportedly completed more than 1,00,000 Laparoscopy surgeries which is accepted by AAGL. This is one of the life time achievements for surgeons in the field of laparoscopy.

“The Sunrise Method was developed six years ago. The method become popular in different countries including in Australia, Europe and Asia. AAGL recently visited our hospital to learn more about this technique. One of the major advantages of this technique is that the surgery can be completed within 30 minutes. ” Dr Hafeez Rahman said.
