Noted singer Radhika Thilak passed away at a private hospital here, She was 45.

KOCHI:  Noted singer Radhika Thilak passed away at a private hospital here on Sunday. She was 45. The singer, battling cancer, was admitted two days ago to the hospital due to fever. The sudden demise came after her condition worsened due to infection.

Radhika has 70 film songs and nearly 270 non-film songs to her credit in a career that lasted nearly a quarter a century.

She is survived by husband Suresh Kumar and daughter Devika, fourth year student at NUALS.

Mayamanchalil from Ottayal Pattalam in 1991 marked her in Malayalam film while Deva sangeetham(Guru), Kaithapoo manam (Sneham), Thiruvathira thira nokkiya (Kanmadam), Ente ulludukkum kotti and Ninte kannil (Deepasthambham Mahascharyam), Manassil mithuna Mazha (Nandanam) are some of her super hits. A popular face on Doordarshan in the 90s, she was one of the top rated singers on All India Radio and one among the most sought after stage singers of the time. She has sung several light music songs, bhajans and ghazals and devotionals. She has also worked as a TV anchor.

An alumnus of Chinmaya Vidyalaya and St Theresa’s College, Ernakulam, she was winner of light music competition at the Mahatma Gandhi University. Her last rites will be held at the Ravipuram crematorium on Monday at 5 pm.
