KOCHI: A NEW ‘centre for learning’ titled ‘Tattwa’ was launched here on Friday by Education Secretary Mohammed Hanish.
The centre will be utilising the platform of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). Tattwa is an initiative by a team of experienced educationists led by Kamakshi Balakrishnan and Maya Mohan.
Speaking on the occasion, Hanish emphasised on the need for a different education system that suits today’s children. According to him, NIOS is well-equipped to contribute to the cause. He said a friendly and stress-free atmosphere would help children reap the real benefits of education. Hibi Eden MLA in his felicitation speech said education systems across the world were undergoing transformation, and hoped that Tattwa would lead the transformation in Kerala. Kendriya Vidyalayas commissioner Uma Sivaram also spoke on the occasion.
“Apart from regular subjects, Tattwa will hold sessions in yoga and brain exercise, besides conducting motivational and career guidance sessions,” said sources. The initiative designed for home-schoolers; differently-abled; those who require flexible study schedule; those who are unable to cope with the academic
stress of regular schools and those who wish to do special courses after SSLC and plus-II.
