KOCHI: Southern Railway has decided to augment eight a trains permanently, considering the repeated demand from commuters.
The trains to be augmented with two additional general coaches are Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam Vanchinad Express (train no. 16304/16303), Kannur-Ernakulam Express (train no. 16313/16314), Alappuzha-Kannur Express (train no. 16307/16308) and Ernakulam-Kannur Express (train no. 16305/16306).
The augmented Vanchinad Express will start service on May 20. By May 24, all these trains will be conducting service with 20 coaches, stated sources with the Railways.
