KOCHI: Jishnu Pranoy’s mother Mahija moves forward with the agitation, the UDF will support it, KPCC chief M M Hassan has said.

“The agreement reached by the state government to end her strike lacks honesty”, he told reporters here on Tuesday.

In a scathing attack on the CPM-led LDF Government, the KPCC chief alleged even Jishnu Pranoy’s family members, who were CPM sympathisers, were not getting justice under the Pinarayi regime.

“Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is taking revenge against his political opponents by putting them behind bars. His governance resembles the era of princely rule”, he said. Like in the monarchy, those praising the CPM reign get accolades while those opposing it are manhandled and put behind bars,” Hassan said.

“It is owing to the personal grudge towards K M Shajahan that he was put in jail as per the directive of the Chief Minister. This is highly deplorable and a gross violation of human rights,” he said.

The police arrested Shajahan during the agitation staged by Mahija in front of the Police Headquarters, accusing him of instigating the protesters.
