KOCHI: The controversial spiritual guru Swami Himaval Bhadrananda landed in trouble after Ernakulam North Police arrested him on charges of a Facebook post inciting communal hatred.

In a dramatic move, a team led by Circle Inspector T B Vijayan nabbed Himaval Bhadrananda on Tuesday while he was returning from Paravur Additional Sessions Court after appearing in the case related tothe  opening of fire at Aluva police station in 2008. 

According to the police, the case was suo moto registered by North Police after noticing complaints that Himaval Bhadrananda used to post derogatory comments on his timeline, inciting communal hatred, in November 2016.He was later produced before ACJM Court, Ernakulam.

However, the Paravur Court posted the case related to the firing at Aluva Police Station to January 12. It was K G Babu Kumar, the then circle inspector, who grabbed the pistol from Bhadrananda on May 17, 2008.

The swami had fired two shots from his pistol at the Circle Inspector's office. Bhadrananda was taken to the police station after he threatened to kill himself using a pistol at his house near Manackappady.
