KOCHI: The Kochi1 smart card, a credit-based card system aimed at making metro rides more convenient, will be available at all metro stations from Saturday. Earlier, Kochi1 cards were issued at five stations only. “Kochi1 card will encourage commuters to use digital payment and go paperless. Similarly, the cardholder can avail of several discounts for metro rides and vehicle parking at stations,” stated a release issued by the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL).

“Kochi 1 cardholders will get 20 per cent discount on fare for travel and a special rate for parking, besides other offers and discounts in services outside our transit environment. An additional 10 per cent discount and a 10 per cent cashback on monthly metro rides worth `500 or more are also being offered as a short-term offer,” it stated.

The KMRL has introduced the unique open-loop co-branded card with Axis bank.
Kochi1 card can be used not just for transit but also as a prepaid debit card.
The smart card has the potential to integrate the environment within the city with every user through e-commerce transaction.
