‘Operation Broken Window’ to curb criminal activities

The Kochi City Police has started a special drive named ‘Operation Broken Window’ to curtail activities of goonda gangs, anti-social elements and drug mafia in the city.

KOCHI: The Kochi City Police has started a special drive named ‘Operation Broken Window’ to curtail activities of goonda gangs, anti-social elements and drug mafia in the city.On Tuesday, the report recommending action under Kerala Anti-social Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA) against 2 persons was sent to the District Collector.

As many as 8 cases were registered for drugs abuse and its sale. Similarly, 23 cases were registered under the Abkari Act and 83 cases were charged against people involved in various organised crimes. In total, 98 cases were registered for various anti-social activities in Kochi Police limit on Tuesday.

A press release issued by the Kochi City Police Commissioner stated that Operation Broken Window would continue in the coming days and several people involved in various criminal cases are being tracked by the police. It is following the directive of Kochi Range IG Vijay Sakkare, the drive is being carried out.
The directive has been issued to all the police stations in Kochi limit. Similarly, City Special Branch has also been tasked with tracking down people involved in various criminal cases.
