THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Malayalam Communications Limited, which manages Kairali, People and We channels on behalf of the CPM, has registered a profit of Rs 7.65 crore in the last fiscal. The performance of the company in a recession-hit year was really impressive, noted its director board meeting.

 The company annouced a 5 percent dividend for share holders for the first time.

 ``Those who demanded dividend as shares will be given shares equivalent to dividend,’’ said Malayalam Communications chairman Mammootty. The company has made special arrangements for distributing dividends at districts headquarters. In 2008-09, Malayalam Communications registered a growth of 36 percent in revenue. The total revenue for the year was Rs 47.86 crore.

 While actor Mammootty was re-elected as chairman of the Malayalam Communications Limited, John Britas was re-elected as its MD.  The existing director board comprising P.A.Sidhartha Menon, C.K. Karunakaran, P.T.Kunjumohammed, M.M.Monayi, V.K.Mohammed Ashraf, A.A. Rasheed, T.R.Ajayan, A.Vijayaraghavan and A.K. Moosa will continue.
