The `ammathottil’ of the Kerala State Child

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The `ammathottil’ of the Kerala State Child Welfare Council here has received the 100th child.

It was on Friday at 3.45 pm that the child was received at the amma thottil.The female baby was named as Sathasree.

  It was on November 14, 2002, that the first  `ammathottil’ was started at the council’s headquarters at Thycaud.

The facility to receive the babies was set up at Child Welfare Council’s headquarters following the tragic deaths of some abandoned kids.

Shammi.B. Singh of Sahyavali Technology group designed the concept of `ammathottil’.

  It was on November 27 that the `ammathottil’ here received the first child. The child was named Nithya.

The first and 100th babies received at the facility were girls. So far, 56 female babies and 44 male babies have been received here.

The first baby was adopted on August 8, 2003.
