Dona Mayoora owes it to the blogosphere for shaping her. Her’s is a perfect little story that goes well for a Victorian romance where the ‘blog hero’ comes to the rescue of a ‘poet heroine’ who was hidden and suppressed in a housewife.

You guessed it right. Blogging made Dona the real poet she was always capable of becoming. But in these columns, this housewife settled in Chicago with her husband and two kids, has not been included for this only reason. Dona has ventured into new horizons. Her songs have been composed and sung by many in the blogosphere, and some are huge hits.

Log onto www.rithubhedangal.blogspot.com, http://mog.com/Mayoora or www.mayuukham.blogspot.com and you would know how her lyrics have created soothing wonders in talented voices.

‘Ethranaal ingane...’, her first song, is still the big favourite among many blog and MOG users. (MOG helps to upload music files - MP 3s - and share it with people who are interested in listening to music) It was sung by Riya Vijayan, a native of Kochi. Thanks to its popularity, you can listen to singers like Pradeep Somasundaram rendering it for Dona.

Dona from Chicago, via an e-mail, tell us how it happened, ``I wrote lyrics sitting here in Chicago and sent it over to Rajesh Raman (a talented musician from UK and a fellow blogger). He composed it. Then we sent that MP 3 file to Anil B.S., who is a musician residing in Trivandrum and also a blogger. He composed the background score. Then we sent that file to Pradeep Somasundaram, who sang that song sitting there in Thrissur. We haven’t seen each other. We only know each other through blog, Orkut and e-mails.’’ Now that’s called the charm of blogging!

The song has given her sweet moments to remember. ``My grandmother, after listening to this particular song, wrote me a poem as a reply to that lyrics. I don’t have words to express the overwhelming feeling I had when that happened.

So many people have sent me mails saying that it’s their song. They do believe that I did write that song for them. If I’m not a blogger, these things will never happen in my life. I will never get the courage to approach someone for this,’’ she cannot be more happy.

Dona is also a part of eEnam, the first free online Malayalam musical album from Malayalam bloggers.

She wrote a song for the album and eEnam is also launching a commercial album in January 2010. Rajesh Raman, Kallara Gopan, Suresh and Riya are some of the singers who have rendered her many songs in Malayalam. There are eight songs in her blog that you can listen to.

Dona is also a part of Book Republic, a group of Malayalees living in different parts of the world whose aim is to overcome the difficulties of the traditional way of publishing books. That she was a sprinter and sports champion in school and a budding poet in college and first visited blogosphere to share some recipes are interesting episodes of this lyricist blogger’s life.
