THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Yuva Morcha state president K.Surendran has alleged that the State Government is trying to exempt PDP leader Abdul Nazar Madhani and wife Soofia Madhani from terror cases.

Surendran told reporters here on Monday that the Kerala Police were groping in the dark about terror cases. He alleged a sabotage in the exemption of Umar Farooq, who had close connections with the Madhani family, by the National Investigation  Agency (NIA) from the Kalamassery bus burning case.

He said that Nalakath Yusaf, another accused who was also exempted from the case by the Court, had been brought to the house of Soofia Madhani by Umar Farooq. Thadiyantavide Nazir, who has terror links beyond the boundaries of the country, is also connected to Umar Farooq. By paving way for the exemption of Umar Farooq, the Police has actually saved Madhani and his wife from being charged in the case, he said.

Surendran said that the DGP had the responsibility to disclose the name of the Guruvayur-based businessman who had contacts with international terrorist Thahavur Hussein Rana. Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has belittled the visit of Rana to the State. Rana had prepared sketches of Guruvayur temple and its adjoining areas with the aim of destroying the temple, Surendran said.
