ALAPPUZHA: The Chengannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Monday sent  Sherin, main accused in the Bhaskara Karanaver murder case, to judicial custody. Sherin, who was in the police custody for the past seven days, was produced before the Court around 11.30 a.m. on Monday by the police team led by Chengannur CI Jyothikumar.

Sherin will be produced before the Court on Wednesday as her judicial custody will end the same day.

The police who took her to Karanaver’s Villa as part of evidence collection process, said that the findings during evidence collection were corroborative to her testimony during interrogation.

The police added that Sherin had fully cooperated with the probe. The police version is that Karanaver was murdered by a three-member gang led by Baasit alias Basi, a native of Changanassery who is settled in Kochi.

Sherin had deposed before the police that the gang had arrived at the Karanaver’s villa for handing over to her the commission money due to her in a land deal. But the gang, on entering the house, threatened Sherin and demanded money.

“They barged into Karanaver’s room and killed during the robbery”, police said.

“We hope to get a clear picture about the role of Sherin after getting the result of the polygraph test by next week”, he said.

Sherin is the daughter-in-law of Karanaver, an American Malayali who was found murdered at his residence at Cheriyanadu on November 8.
