THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Pulayar Maha Sabha (KPMS) organising secretary Thuravur Suresh has urged the Government to prevent the faction, led by former general secretary Punnala Sreekumar, from mobilising funds and organising a state conference.

Addressing a news conference here on Friday, he said that the Vanchiyoor Munsiff Court had upheld the KPMS state leadership’s decision to oust general secretary Punnala Sreekumar, assistant secretary V Sreedharan and organising secretary KK Purushothaman, on a petition filed by general secretary NK Neelakandan.

He pointed out that the court had ruled against Punnala faction using the name of KPMS or its flag and convening any meetings.

In view of this, Punnala Sreekumar’s decision to postpone the state conference, which was scheduled on August 7 and 8, will be an attempt to save their face, he said.

Suresh said that the state conference meeting, which was held in Ernakulam on July 28 and 29, had elected new office-bearers.

The new Committee, under president TV Babu, has assumed office. Still, the Punnala faction is organising state conference violating the court ruling.

Suresh asked the Government to take action against the Punnala faction.
