THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Freedom fighter KE Mammen has won the first Oommen Varghese Memorial Award. This was the first award instituted by the Gemson Trust in memory of Tamrapatra-winner freedom fighter Chirayil Oommen Varghese.
The award was meant to honour personalities who made overall contributions to the development of society and the country. The award carries Rs 10,001, citation and a plaque. It will be presented to Mammen on Gandhi Jayanthi day.
