THIRUVANATHAPURAM: ''I am a tired soul. I have had enough already. So, please don't kill me anymore.'' Thus began director Vinayan at the onset of the news conference held at Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on Sunday. He sounded a relieved man while speaking to the media after the screening of his new film, Yakshiyum Njanum.

''Everybody knows how much I have suffered to bring my movie on screen. This must not happen to anyone else. The fact that Yakshiyum Njanum is now running in theatres is a real blow to the starruled Malayalam film industry,'' he said.

Vinayan recounted the agony he had undergone while shooting his film. ''There had not been a single peaceful day in my life for quite a while. I just could not devote myself entirely to the film. Every day began with one problem or the other, like cameraman or an artist backing out or technicians refusing to cooperate. The socalled superstars tried every means so that I do not come up with a new film.'' He said that his new film is a stinging reply to those who want to estrange artists in the industry. "Malayalam film industry is not about superstars. They are not going to reign supreme for more than a year. They are going to vanish within a year or two. You can already sense their downfall.''

Rating Yakshiyum Njanum as his best film ever, he said that his film is going to be a commercial success. ''I have not taken as much strain and pain for any other film as I have taken for Yakshiyum Njanum.

This film was literally made from the gravest adversities. There had always been impediments. I had wanted to cast Jagathy, Indrans and Guinness Pakru for this film. But, they rang me up and openly told me that they were helpless. Now I am happy that it has come out well. I am sure that my film will be received well by viewers.'' When asked about the decision of Malayalam superstars to boycott the function organised by the government to honour Kamal Hassan, Vinayan said that it was too foolish of the superstars.

''It is ridiculous to dishonour such a great actor. It is, in fact, a violation of the organisational decorum they always talk about.''
