THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Indiavision Person of the Year award was presented to Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary T.K.A.Nair here on Thursday.

Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi presented the award.

Lauding the contributions of Nair in clearing major developments projects of Kerala, Ravi said that it was T.K.A.Nair’s efforts which helped in materialising the Vallarpadom Container Terminal project. He also had contributed to the proposed LNG terminal in Kochi, modernisation of the NTPC plant at Kayamkulam, Sabarimala Master Plan, Kochi metro project and Pampa Action Plan, Ravi said.

He pointed out that it was T.K.A.Nair’s ultimatum that had prompted the trade unions and the State Government to expedite the starting of the container terminal project. If the infrastructure like rail line is completed the work of the terminal could begin in three months, he said.

T.K.A.Nair, in his reply, said the development projects should not be hampered owing to party politics.

He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was following a policy that development activities of state governments should not be hampered due to party politics.  He said the media had a great role in ``liberating’’ Kerala which has been plagued by forces that are engaged in unacceptable activities.

A jury comprising M.T.Vasudevan Nair (chairman), Justice V.R.Krishna Iyer, G.Vijayaraghavan, K.Gopalakrishnan and Dr Lalitha decided the award. Indiavision chairman M.K.Muneer presided over the function. Vice chairman Roy Mathew, G.Vijayaraghavan and Editor Nikeshkumar spoke on the occasion.
