THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Ahead of the local body elections, the Kerala State Delimitation Commission has published the draft of the ward delimitation reports of the Corporations where amalgamation has been done and of newlyformed municipalitiesFollowing the approval of the Court, the draft delimitation report of Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode Corporations and that of Kottayam, Tripunithura, Iringalakkuda, Kodungalloor, Guruvayur, Karunagappally, Trikkakkara, Eloor, Maradu, Kottakkal, Nilambur and Neeleswaram municipalities were published on Friday. The total number of wards in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has risen to 100 while in Kozhikode it has gone up to 75. Nattakom and Kumaranalloor have been amalgamated to Kottayam municipality making a total of 52 wards there. Tripunithura municipality now has 49 wards with the merging of Thiruvankulam.Pookodu and Thykad have been added to Guruvayur making it a total of 43 wards in Guruvayur municipality. While Porathaseri has been added to Iringalakkuda, Methala has been added to Kodungalloor. Karunagappally, Thrikkakara, Eloor, Maradu, Kottakkal, Nilambur and Neeleswaram grama panchayats have been upgraded into municipalities. The complaints and suggestions on the draft report should be handed over to the respective District Collectors by July 30. The complainants would be called for hearing after which only the Delimitation Commission would publish the final draft. The copy of the draft reports are available for the public at a specific fee at the respective local bodies.
