THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ‘Balasahithya Puraskar’  instituted by the Kerala State Institute of Children’s Literature will be presented on Wednesday at a function to be organised at Press Club, Thiruvananthapuram. Education and Culture Minister M A Baby will present the awards to the winners.

 The C G Shanthakumar Puraskar for the best contribution in the field of Children’s Literature will be given to children’s writer Sippy Pallippuram.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a citation and a statuette.

 ‘Thooval’ written by Ramakrishnan Kumaranalloor and published by the Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishat in the poetry section, ‘Naalam classile varal’ written by M R Renukumar and published by the Kerala State Institute of Children’s Literature in the novel section, ‘Janthu lokathinte kouthukangal’ written by M Geethanjali and published by the Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishat in the science section, ‘Ambathu mara kathakal’ written by G S Unnikrishnan Nair and published by DC Books in the translation section, ‘Njan Kunji Moosa’ written by  Gopu Pattithara and published by the Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishat in the features section, ‘Ponnanayam’ written by G Krishnapillai and published by Poorna Books in the drama section are the other award winners. They all will receive Rs 10,000 each, a citation and statuette.
