THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ratheesh C Nair, Honorary Russian Consul in Thiruvananthapuram, received the Consular Medal instituted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia from the Russian Ambassador Alexander Kadakin in New Delhi the other day.

 The medal, instituted to mark the 200th anniversary of the Consular services of the Russian Foreign Ministry, was presented to him for his contribution in consular services. Alena Adamkova, the Executive Director of the International Roerich Memorial Trust, citizen of the Slovak Republic, was conferred with Order of Friendship; Rakesh Sharma, first Indian Cosmonaut was honoured “For merits in the Exploration of Space” for his great contribution to the development of cooperation in manned space flight.

 Prof Arun Mohanty of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, was decorated with the Pushkin Medal for a substantial contribution to developing and strengthening of scientific and cultural ties between Russia and India.

Feodor A Rozovsky, Director of the Centre of Science and Culture of Russia, was awarded the Medal of “The Order for merits before the Motherland, Second Class,’’ on the occasion.
