LEDs to light up ‘Parnasala’

The famed marble lotus will be lit with LEDs as part of the ‘Poojithapeetam Samarpanam’ celebrations on Tuesday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The famed marble lotus at the Santhigiri Ashram, Pothencode, will be lit using Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) on Tuesday in connection with the ‘Poojithapeetam Samarpanam’ celebrations. The celebrations will commence with the ‘pushpanjali’ ceremony at 5 am. The festival flag will be hoisted at 6 am. Finance Minister K M Mani will inaugurate the celebrations at 3 pm at the Spiritual Zone, Ashram officials said. Panchayats and Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer will preside over the function. A procession too has been planned to mark the occasion.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the LED lighting at the lotus-shaped ‘Parnasala’ at 7 pm. Minister of State for Food K V Thomas will preside over the function. Ministers K C Joseph, A P Anil Kumar, V S Sivakumar, K Babu and K P Mohanan and Mayor K Chandrika are expected to attend the event.

The inauguration of the LED lighting system will be accompanied by a fusion music concert by a 40-member troupe led by violinist Balabhaskar. Noted director Rajeev Anchal has directed the 20-minute programme. The lighting has been arranged by a team led by cameraman S Kumar.
