'Shreeratna' awards given away

Noted journalist, litterateur and film-maker Anita Pratap was presented with the ‘Shreeratna’ global award for 2013 instituted by Kerala Kalakendram the other day. The awards in various categories were distributed by T K A Nair, Advisor to the Prime Minister, at the function.

 The ‘Shreeratna’ awards this year are for P Kusuma Kumari (Additional Director, Regional Cancer Centre), Alice Prince (director, Smart Engineering and Design Solutions, Bahamas), Shibulal (chairperson, Advait Foundation, Bangalore) and Lissy Priyadarshan (Managing Director, Four Frames film company, Chennai), a press release here said.

 KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said that only by introducing new laws protection of women cannot be ensured. For that to happen, the outlook of society towards women should change.

 Former Additional Chief Secretary D Babu Paul presided over the function, in which Health Minister V S Sivakumar delivered the keynote address.
