THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Renowned laparoscopic and liver surgeon K P Haridas has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award for his ‘outstanding contribution to healthcare, social work and philanthropy’. The city-based surgeon was bestowed the award at the UK South India Business Meet 2014 held at the Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London on July 10. Haridas received the award from Lord Swraj Paul, Indian-born British industrialist and Life Peer and Member, UK House of Lords in the presence of Virendra Sharma, Member, UK House of Commons.

Haridas holds the credit for successfully carrying out the first liver resection in MCH here as early as 1980.

In his over four-decade surgical experience, he has performed thousands of minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgeries, most of them declared inoperable.
