16 Teachers from State Selected for National Award

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A total of 16 teachers from Kerala have been selected for the 2014 National Awards to Teachers instituted by the Department of School Education and Literacy.

Seven teachers in the secondary section, who have been selected for the award, are: Sreekala P G of RKD NSS Higher Secondary School, Thiruvananthapuram; Shaju M V of Santha HSS, Thrissur, Abdulla E V of Perambra Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode, Jayalakshmy K of Government GHSS, Ernakulam, Shankaranarayana Bhat S of Navajivana Higher Secondary School, Kasaragod, Babu T John of Deepa High School, Idukki, and Niyas Chola of Markaz HSS, Kozhikode.

Seven primary School teachers selected for the award are: Laizamma V Korah of CSIVHS School For the Deaf, Thiruvalla, Asok V S of Government UPS, Vamanapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Manoj K P of GMUP School Kottakkal, Malappuram, Francis B of Government UPS Chittoor, Kollam, Varughese P Peter of Government UPB School, Pathanamthitta, George N V of St Joseph’s UP School, Kailody, Wayanad, and Kodakkad Narayanan of GUP School, Kasargod.

While Nirmala Venkateshwaran of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Kochi, was selected for the award in the CBSE category, V Jalaja Kumari of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom Thiruvananthapuram, was selected in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) category.

The awards will be given away on the occasion of Teachers Day.
