Congress Leaders Pay Glowing Tributes to GK

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Glowing tributes were paid to the late G Karthikeyan on his first death anniversary on Monday. Fondly called GK he passed away while serving as the Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly.

At a commemoration meet held at the KPCC office here, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy described Karthikeyan as one who loved the people and was loved by the people. “He had demonstrated his ability to steer any responsibility thrust upon him and make his party proud. He had excelled in every sphere he was associated with,” Chandy said after inaugurating the meet.

In his presidential address, KPCC chief V M Sudheeran observed that there was a ‘Karthikeyan touch’ in everything the late leader had indulged in. “Karthikeyan could be matched with himself only. Gentle but very assertive in his views, he had taken the lead to confront undesirable tendencies whenever it cropped up in the political-social-cultural spheres.

“He was a symbol of commitment towards clean politics. His life would be an inspiration for future generations,” he said.
