THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Social Justice Minister K K Shylaja has termed as ‘barbaric’ and ‘condemnable’ the incident in which threat letters and human excreta were sent to Women’s Commission chairperson M C Josephine and warned of stern action against the perpetrators.

Shylaja hoped the culprits would soon be brought to book and added the Home Department has been asked to conduct a thorough probe into the incident. She said the panel was taking strong steps to curb atrocities against women. The Commission was also engaged in  launching new projects to ensure the welfare and protection of women in the state.

“The Women’s Commission has the right to take suo motu cases when atrocities against women come to its notice. Those who are not satisfied with such actions are issuing threats. This is not suited for a progressive state like Kerala,” the minister said in a statement.
