THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Verses from well known poems by poets from all the South Indian languages will hold the capital city spell bound. Those who love poems can make the most of the three-day poetry festival ‘Dakshina’ organised by the Ayyappa Paniker Foundation. The festival will begin on 19 September. Briefing reporters here on Monday, poet Satchidanandan said the event is a tribute to Paniker and also for voices of resistance like Gauri Lankesh.
Poet Ashok Vajpeyi will inaugurate the festival at VJT hall here on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Satchidanandan will preside over the function which will be attended by poet Balachandran Chullikad. Sugathakumari, K Sivareddy, Manjunatha VM, Rajathi Salma and Sridala Swami will recite their poems. It will be followed by the screening of a documentary on Attoor Ravi Varma by Anwar Ali.
Poets from various Indian languages including Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam along with Indo-English writers will attend the poetry recital each day.
