THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The health wing of the city Corporation has initiated action against those who dumped waste in public places and collected a fine to the tune of `37,190. The civic body also issued notices to 57 hotels in the city that failed to comply with sanitation procedures. The health wing conducted raids on city hotels to ascertain sanitation level.

Raids were conducted in various shops and 52 kg of banned plastic items were seized. The health squads are intensifying its surveillance to nab those dumping waste in public places, said Mayor V K Prasanth.
