THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation health squad has issued notices to two major hotels in the city after stale food was seized in a lightning inspection on Tuesday. The inspection was led by Ulloor region health inspector A V Ajith. Of the six hotels raided, Al Madina and Kuttanadan Variety at Sreekaryam were served with notices citing unhygienic conditions and unauthorised operations, A V Ajith told Express.

“The food seized from Al Madina was two days’ old. Chicken fry, noodles, beef fry, shawai chicken were stored in the refrigerator when we reached there for inspection at 8 am,” he said. The stale food items were destroyed at the backyard of the hotels by the health squad. The licence was seized and the owners were directed to pay a fine. More such raids would be carried out by the corporation. Disciplinary actions are taken to stop the sale of unhygienic food in the city, Mayor V K Prasanth said.
