Flea market catches fire in Vijayawada

The area around Hazara Shopping Mall emanated a large amount of black smoke which created some discomfort to people on the road and also to the hotels and shops nearby.

VIJAYAWADA: A flea market on M G Road in Vijaywada went up in flames at around 9.30 am on Tuesday, reportedly, due to a short circuit. There were no reports of any casualty and the fire is now under control.

The area around Hazara Shopping Mall — a flea market set up temporarily in the space between Hotel DV Manor and Hotel Vibrant — after it caught fire, emanated a large amount of black smoke which created some discomfort to people on the road and also to the hotels and shops nearby.

Alerted by the passersby, three fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Police registered a case and took up the investigation.
