VIJAYAWADA: District Collector B Lakshmikantham and Commissioner of Police (CP) Dwaraka Tirumala Rao inaugurated a Centralized Video Conferencing (CVC) facility at Vijayawada police commissionerate on Wednesday. The new facility, they said, will reduce the burden of Station House Officers (SHO) to some extent.

Station house officials can use it to give presentations and higher officials can view them from the commissioner’s office. “Officials can also share Word documents, powerpoint presentations and PDF files on cases with all police stations instantly,” said the CP.

The video conference facility was set up at 22 police stations under the Vijayawada commissionerate and three Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) offices. One facility was set up for the commissioner.

“Using the facility, I can talk to all SHOs and DCPs together and conduct review meetings. Earlier, all SHOs used to attend review meetings in the commissionerate. But making use of the CVC facility, one can participate in review meetings sitting in his/her office,” said Tirumala Rao. Conversations will be recorded and saved for future reference, he added.

On the occasion, B Lakshmikantham said the development that one could see around was achieved with the help of a technologically driven administration.

“We digitalized 440 schools in the district. That is how the administration is being able to interact with the school children after the CVC facility came up. Soon, video conference meetings will prove helpful to police and officials in reviewing election duties,” the District Collector added.
