VIJAYAWADA: A lorry driver was found murdered inside a lorry cabin under suspicious circumstances on National Highway near Gannavaram airport on Sunday afternoon. According to ACP - East Vijay Bhaskar, the deceased was identified as Soma Srinivasa Rao (50) alias Shetty, a native of Khammam district.

He was on his way to Kovvur town in West Godavari district from Vijayawada on Saturday night along with his assistant Subba Rao. For dinner, he stopped the lorry near Gannavaram airport. On Sunday morning, passersby noticed Srinivasa Rao lying in a pool of blood and informed the police. Police suspect that Rao might have been murdered as there were knife injuries on his neck. “We suspect Subba Rao’s hand in the murder.

He went absconding and his mobile phone was switched off,” said Vijaya Bhaskar. A case of suspicious death was registered. A team was sent to nab Subba Rao. The body was shifted to new government general hospital for postmortem.
