VIJAYAWADA: In a first, the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), under the guidance of European Centre for Mechatronics (ECM), has decided to provide training in advanced robotics to over 40,000 engineering students from colleges across the State.
In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the APSSDC and ECM was signed here on Friday. APSSDC MD and CEO K Sambasiva Rao and ECM’s President VVS Raju and Managing Directors Till Quadflieg and Christoph Greb were present.
On the occasion, Sambasiva Rao said: “The move is an addition to the APSSDC’s previous achievements. Now, our focus is on creating a world-class ecosystem in the fields of industrial manufacturing and robotics, which is why we are collaborating with the European Center for Mechatronics. As many as eight lakh will receive training in the subject in the next 15 years to capitalise on the increasing employment opportunities in robotics.”
As many as 12 engineering colleges have been selected for training in the first phase and 3,000 students will receive training in advanced robotics. The ECM and Germany’s Akon University are engaged in training.
For the purpose, Italy’s Comau robots, each of which costs `30 lakhs, are made available in each control lab that have been set up in engineering colleges across the State as part of the agreement. During the training, students will be taught about automation, mechatronics and industrial robotics.
