VIJAYAWADA: Director General of Police (DGP) and Director General (DG) of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) RP Thakur said systemic changes in the ACB procedures have reduced corruption, making Andhra Pradesh stand at third position among the least corrupt States.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, DG Thakur said they were working to establish Prevention Division in the Anti-Corruption Bureau to examine the systems, practices, and procedures of State government departments and public bodies.

“This division will help our officials identify loopholes and make recommendations for reducing the potential for graft,” Thakur said. As per the directions of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Vigilance Awareness Week is being celebrated from October 29 to November 3 with the theme ‘Eradicate corruption-Build a new India’.

“During this week, we will conduct public awareness campaigns regarding the ills of corruption and encouraging all stakeholders to collectively participate in the war against corruption,” ACB Director-General said.

Thakur said the ACB has registered 86 corruption cases, 21 disproportionate assets (DA) cases, eight criminal misconduct cases, 25 regular enquiries and 41 surprise checks.

“We are constructively involving public in the early stages of policy formulation and legislation to cut down corruption. We are zero tolerant to corruption,” he said.
