Task Force sleuths catch 19 gamblers from Vijayawada

VIJAYAWADA: Sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force (CTF) arrested 19 gamblers from two different locations in Vijayawada on Monday morning. The police recovered around Rs 1 lakh and 24 mobile phones from them and filed cases against them under the AP Gambling Act.

Acting on a tip-off, one team of CTF officials raided a shop near the flower market in Krishna Lanka and the other at a hotel on Mahatma Gandhi Road. The accused were caught red-handed. As many as six persons were arrested from the flower shop and Rs 67,000 was recovered from them.

The arrested were identified as traders and lorry drivers. The team that raided the hotel arrested 13 persons.
“The accused were handed over to the Krishna Lanka police station,” a senior task force official said.
