General government holidays for 2019 announced in Andhra Pradesh

The State government on Wednesday issued the list of general holidays and optional holidays for 2019. Of the 21 general holidays, four fall on Sundays.

VIJAYAWADA: The State government on Wednesday issued the list of general holidays and optional holidays for 2019. Of the 21 general holidays, four fall on Sundays. Also, 20 festivals were listed in optional holidays under which employees can avail maximum five leaves.

Apart from these holidays, all the government offices will remain closed on all Sundays and second Saturdays.

General holidays are Bhogi (January 14), Sankranti (January 15), Kanumu (January 16),  Republic Day (January 26), Maha Sivaratri (March 4), Babu Jagjivan Ram birthday (April 5), Ugadi (April 6),  Good Friday (April 19), Ramzan (June 5), Bakrid (August 12), Independence Day (August 15),  Sri Krishnashtami (August 23), Vinayaka Chavithi (September 2), Moharram  (September 10),  Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi (October 2),  Vijayadasami (October 8), Christmas (December 25)
General holidays on Sunday are Sri Rama Navami/ Dr B R Ambedkar’s birthday (April 4), Durgashtami (October 10), Diwali (October 27) and Miladun Nabi (December 10).
