VMC plans to upgrade crematoriums across city

Officials were directed to promptly identify and resolve issues wherever they arise.

VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner HM Dhyanachandra said the civic body aims to comprehensively develop crematoriums across the city to ensure a dignified and comfortable environment for the public on Wednesday.

As part of his field visit, the commissioner inspected Hindu, Muslim and Christian crematoriums located at Kummaripalem Centre, Vidyadharapuram, and near Punnami Hotel. He stressed that all such facilities must be maintained in a clean and systematic manner without any shortcomings. Officials were directed to promptly identify and resolve issues wherever they arise.

Dhyanachandra emphasized the need to provide essential amenities, including toilets, bathrooms, safe drinking water and proper lighting at all cremation grounds. He also instructed officials to focus on enhancing greenery by planting and maintaining trees within the premises.

Later, he visited the Anna Canteen located on RTC Workshop Road to review food quality, hygiene and service delivery. He directed nodal officers to ensure strict daily monitoring and adherence to food safety standards.

Interacting with beneficiaries at the canteen, the Commissioner sought feedback on food quality, facilities and punctuality of services. Citizens expressed satisfaction, stating that they were not facing any major issues.
