They are on a mission to enthrall the music world and do a bit of social service as well. The six-student band comprises Kaushik Nanda, bass guitarist and music composer, Sambit Mohapatra, vocalist, Anuraag Panda, rhythm guitarist, Chinmoy Pati, drummer, Gandhar Phiady, lead guitarist, and Anand P Kullu on acoustic guitar. They share a passion for music and are trying to make waves in Bhubaneswar through their band ‘Canna Blitz’.

Except Chinmoy who is a practising doctor at the Kalinga Hospital here, the other members are management and engineering students of various colleges in the city. Their genre is rock, jazz, blues, post grunge and hard rock. The band recently played for orphan kids at the Joy of Giving Week at the Satya Sai orphanage in the city recently. “In fact, we want to be known as a music band that is contributing to various social causes,” says Sambit.

The band marked its beginning on the Teacher’s Day this year. Anand contacted Sambit to take part in a cultural show on Teacher’s Day and they roped in their friends to form the band. As to academics, Anand says, “We make sure that music is never a hurdle to us. We jam together and pay equal attention to studies.”
